This is an old revision of the document!
As a member of the NordInvasion wiki staff, you have edit permissions for nearly all the public pages. This includes the ability to modify existing pages and create new ones.
This staff page serves as the place where staffers can view our styling guidelines for formatting pages and the hierarchy of namespaces.
As this wiki is very new, the guidelines are not fully set. They will likely change as the wiki matures.
The wiki is made up of sections called “namespaces” which are something like folders. There are two ways we can structure the wiki: either divide subjects up into different namespaces or keep a very flat structure.
My (Kip's) current thinking is that we should keep it as flat as possible and only use namespaces when we need to protect certain pages from editing or from being viewed by others. Wikipedia, for example, uses a flat structure.
The main disadvantage I see to this is that the “You are here:” entry at the top of the page would be less useful. This might not be a problem, though, if we use a navigation sidebar. We might also consider switching back to the “breadcrumb” style entry rather the “you are here”.
We currently have no specific styling guidelines.
Try to use headers so that the table of contents generates.
Try to offer a summery of longer pages under the title header.
We are looking into “templates” that will fill out the skeleton of the page automatically when it is created.
