The rules for playing NordInvasion are relatively straight forward and require no leap of imagination. A non-exhaustive list of the rules follows:

• Do not glitch
• Do not insult other players
• Do not attempt to take advantage of a loophole in the website
• Do not destroy people's barricades or equipment
• Do not spam the chat feed
• Do not ask players to die
• Do not try to wipe the team by repeatedly killing last or spamming tomes to spawn wraiths
• Do not ask players to leave a server before wave 17
• Do not remain afk on servers for extended periods of time
• Do not recruit for a House more than once per round
• Do not create/change character names to a name similar to that of a developer or an admin for trolling purposes
• Do not play on more than one copy of Warband at a time.
• Do not troll on servers. This includes the usage of such annoying terms as “YOLO” and “swag”
• Speak English on game servers. This is so when we read the logs we can easily follow everything when reports are logged

For explanations of any of these rules, see the following sections. The above list is non-exhaustive but we impose no rule on players that we expect to be challenging to follow.

Bots have no wit or brain; they just charge at you at the nearest given opportunity and will only be stopped by a wall. Naturally, their lack of intelligence allows them to be abused in unimaginative ways. Glitching is the solution to a cheap victory. Players can just pick off bots like a trapshoot which isn't a challenge and not the purpose of this mod.

As a general rule, if it seems like something you are doing should not be possible, it is quite likely a glitch. If in doubt, don't do it… or ask a developer or admin.

Here are some more specific guidelines for determining what is a glitch:

• A place where nords cannot access
• A position where bots cannot reach you in melee
• A place where only bots with very long weapons can reach you (like pikemen)
• A place where bots get stuck deliberately and cannot escape
• Blocking bots with objects that they will not destroy
• Standing on barricades and platforms which are stacked or built on a wall or other prop
• Toming yourself in

These are some edge-cases which are not considered a glitch:

• Places reachable by most melee bots (such as a large rock or medium wall)
• Standing on barricades which are on the ground and can be destroyed by melee bots
• Bots suiciding on friendly fire (they do not drop xp)
• Fence hopping if the bots can access the area on the other side

Stacking barricades and platforms was never intended and is considered glitching. Barricades can be built on wall and props that are a part of the map but not on each other. Platforms must be built on the ground. Any barricades or platforms that do not match these requirements should be destroyed.

The creation of characters just for the purpose of selling their starting gear for gold is considered a glitch. Any player found with an unusually high number of alts with no/low stats will be closely examined and generally banned immediately.

Do not simply ignore people who are glitching. If you are found to have knowingly played while someone was glitching, you might very well be suspected of using the glitch yourself and could share in the punishment!

Remember that admins and most players in this mod shun the idea of glitching. Anyone caught glitching will receive a warning at least. Subsequent glitching or severe glitching will lead to more serious consequences such as character resets and banning. If you want to be a stubborn idiot and challenge the admin, you will be banned.

Being inactive on a server and leeching xp is hated by all players. If you are inactive on purpose or for long periods of time, your team will not exactly enjoy your presence. It is rude and unfair to your to be inactive and not help while others are working hard to pass the waves and get xp. This includes when you are eating! We fully appreciate that everyone must eat, but take a break, enjoy your food, and don't stand afk on a server.

Leeching consists of not actively contributing to resist the Nord Invasion. It doesn't matter what class you are or what level, you MUST in a reasonable way contribute to help the team. This is a subjective and objective test. The key matter here will be what is reasonable for you given your level and experience.

• If you are afk, an admin can and will kick you from the game
• If you say you will be afk for a few minutes or something along those lines, be courteous to others rather than just leaving (Note: This does not guarantee you will not be kicked since admins who have just received a report will not have seen your message.)
• Being kicked frequently for leaching or going afk will result in more severe punishment

This game emphasizes teamwork and the co-operation of players to unite against the impending Nordic hord. There might be differences between players who do not agree, however. This might be the internet but you are playing together as a team. Insulting others or behaving rudely could easily get you labeled as a troll.

• Do not discriminate - respect everyone, regardless of their race, religion, nationality, age, or gender
• Encourage teamwork among players but do not dictate or force them to work together
• Swearing a bit at yourself or at the bots is alright but do NOT swear excessively or at other players
• Do not insult other people as being noobs - you were a noob when you started also
• Do not try to wipe the team by repeatedly killing last, spamming tomes, or destroying equipment
• Do not destroy or waste other people's barricades and equipment - if the team dies to a lack of defenses, they will blame you
• Do not spam the chat with irrelevant stuff - it disrupts people's ability to communicate
• Do not tell people to leave a server because you want fewer players - these are public servers that everyone can join
• Do not bootlick/suckup to other players for better weapons - it is annoying
• Do not encourage trolls
• Do not order players to die - this is a kickable/reportable offense
• Do not make a house recruitment message more than once per round - let your skill and behavior as a player speak for the house

If there is a player you would like to report for being afk or leeching, please use IRC as your first port of call. There are usually admins there during most active periods. Please provide the name of the server, the name of the player, and the reason for the report.

If no admins are available on IRC, only then should you create a Report Player thread. Please do not post about one-time occurrences of afk or leeching. If the player has been frequently afk, leeching, insulting recently or has been doing something more severe such as glitching or trolling, do post a report.

Be polite in the player report threads and only post if you are directly involved.
